The KeTe Whii/Procon Joint Venture began work on the Snap Lake Diamond Mine Project in 2000 by extending existing workings into the ore zone. This evolved into constructing the underground ore handling system and mine services, which consisted of 9,000 metres of development, including excavations for the crusher, conveyor way, bins and pump stations. A joint venture was formed with MONAD for the mechanical and electrical installation of various systems, and heating/ventilation plants.
